STREIGHT ANGULAR “Hotties (Butlertron Remix)” -- American rock and roll nominated for motherfucking Song of the Year ("Everyone Is Syncopated") in the 2012 Boston Music Awards dropped this new remix today. Party coming November 14 at Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge.
BIRTHDAYS “Howolding Girls” -- Another jam from Sammy Yager, this one nicked off the November mixtape from Allston Pudding.
POLAROIDS “Sidewalk Cracks" -- Keeping the solo artist theme going with the latest from Amesbury's Tim Oxton, a track also found on the latest AP mix.
BLASÉ “Mouths” -- Got this electronic pop track today from a "mystery artist." When pressed for details, or, you know, an identity, I was given this: "I've played in bands my whole life and sometimes I write songs that I instinctively feel selfish about. I'm not sure if it's in fear of change or what but usually I would tuck them away in a folder on my desktop, but I also feel music should be shared. I want these songs to rely on emotions rather than who I am or what bands I've been in or how many likes on Facebook. I want people to be spotaneous, rely on instinct." Right on, song is pretty good.
THE VITAL MIGHT “I Found You” -- New track from the Might, off their upcoming third LP The Eclipse, out December 11 with a record release party three days earlier, December 8, at Radio. Really digging the album's cover art.
BLEU “All Downhill From Here” -- The latest off the former Bostonian and current West Coast songwriter's upcoming fifth studio album, awesomely-titled To Hell With You, out this February. Bleu is back in town November 17 at Great Scott with Air Traffic Controller, who will drop by the WFNX studio the day before, November 16.
RYAN LEE CROSBY “The Broken Bread” -- Album cut from this past summer's self-titled record has a new music video, released this week; the BMA-nominated singer-songwriter is up for, appropriately-enough, Singer Songwriter Of The Year in a crowded field alongside Marissa Nadler (who does backing vocals on the track), Mike Fiore (Faces On Film), Sarah Blacker, and Will Dailey.
EDDIE JAPAN “You Will Find Me Dead In My Comfort Zone” -- Grab The Phoenix next week for a Cellars by Starlight column on the boys of EJ; in the meantime this is our favorite track off their upcoming EP, Modern Desperation, Part 1, out November 17 at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge on a glam-tastic bill with the Daily Pravda and Gene Dante & the Future Starlets.
THUNDERBLOODS “Ghouls Gone Wild” -- Rock and roll supergroup starring Evan and Jesse from Read Yellow and Steven from Kingsley Flood. Crashing the Cantab in Cambridge November 24.
BENT SHAPES “Brat Poison” -- Showed off the fancy new Bent Shapes Boston Accents ID today, which we recorded outside Brighton Music Hall a few weekends ago during the Dum Dum Girls show. Very exciting stuff from the artist formerly known as Girlfriends.
POTTY MOUTH “Hazardville” -- Spun "Dog Song" last week but that shit skipped (oops) so here's another excellent garage rock cut off the Northampton band's Sun Damaged record.
SUN DAMAGE 12" EP by potty mouth
PIEBALD “American Hearts” -- Throwback jam for Election Day. Note: This is not Pinback, Sean Drinkwater.
PARASOL “Firecracker” -- Power pop jam from one of our Class of 2012 bands.
CALIFORNIA X “Mummy” -- Repping Amherst and awesome shit. Flip side off the "Slacker" 7-inch.
THE SYMPTOMS “Don’t Leave” -- Closing out with the Boston Accents Song of the Day, coming from this Allston quartet who just graduated high school back in June. Let's all feel old together.
