[listen up] Gentlemen Hall, "Bittersweet Symphony (live)" /// WFNX Diso #2, 10.23 @ Lansdowne Pub
Remember that time we all got together at Great Scott for the Boston Accents funeral parties back in June? That was a good time, though bittersweet. We concluded three nights of live shows -- a dozen Boston bands in all -- with a raucous performance by GENTLEMEN HALL, one of the many mainstays of the not just the local show on WFNX but the regular rotation as well. They finished their headlining Night 3 set with a cover of the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony," and everyone jumped on stage and raised a glass to WFNX. I vaguely remember being a part of it. Vodka had its way with me that night.
Luckily for us, Jason Rozen of Grinding Tapes recorded the audio of the cover, and passed it along to us this morning. And in perfect timing, because not only is WFNX back in action, re-launching on Halloween as an online radio station, but we're enlisting G-Hall to help us celebrate.
They headline Night 2 of Disorientation 2012 at the Lansdowne Pub next week, Tuesday October 23, on a Boston-bred bill with electro-pop queen CASEY DESMOND, and yours truly DJing before, between, and after the live sets.
The show is FREE with your RSVP. It might get as rowdy as those June shows. Maybe.
