[tonight in cambridge] L-Vis 1990 + Doctor Jeep + Time Wharp b2b Fens @ Phoenix Landing

L-VIS 1990 is a boss. Night Slugs is the label he operates alongside fellow Brit, Bok Bok, and even if you're unsure that you've heard any of their output, trust me when I tell you that you have. Probably most notable for Girl Unit's massive "Wut" (that one song that goes "wut, wut, wut"), they've also netted bangers from Jacques Greene, Mosca, Kingdom, and a grip of other upstart producers who ply that colourful area between digitized dubstep, Three 6-indebted crunk, and the best sounds that your SNES used to make back in the day. For his 2011 debut LP, L-Vis took a bit of a turn, churning out an album's worth of powder-fueled, vocal-driven anthems, equal parts Miami glitz and London grime.

Which is all to say that things are going to be a bit eclectic at Phoenix Landing tonight. The Facebook event page is advising everyone to get their early because they're expecting the Central Square dive to fill up fast. It will, but there are three other reasons why you might want to avoid sleeping on the 9 pm start time as well, namely opening sets from DOCTOR JEEP and TIME WHARP going back-to-back with FENS, all of whom know their way around a bass anthem in their own right. $8 is the cost to dance with the boss.
