[new musics] Streight Angular's rise of the "Muhsheenz;" tonight @ Rosebud
Continuing this theme of New Music Friday we touched on earlier, local favorites STREIGHT ANGULAR have recorded and released a new track today, the wordy “Muhsheenz Machines Meschynes (We were Machines)”, for free on their Bandcamp. The song, essentially, is a fun and dance-y retelling of Terminator 2, but from the perspective of Arnold Schwarzenegger, if he was less of a murdering robot and more of a happy fleshy person who liked making good music. The Polks keep on proving that they have exactly what it takes to spin this kind of fun and bouncy music into pure gold, and I’m all in favor of a spin-off song about aliens, if they wanted to make it.
Perhaps the best thing about this already solid jam is that it was recorded for the BUCDIA Studio D Project, and it’ll be going out on a charity compilation for them. The band chose to support Girls Rock Camp Boston, which is always awesome, because the world needs many more rockin’ ladies. So, if you like it, maybe donate a little cash when the comp comes out?
To find out if Streight Angular are really for the children, or if they’re just luring you to their gingerbread house to make you and your sister into a tasty rock and roll pie, come out to the Rosebud Bar tonight in Somerville, where they’ll be playing a set chock full of fun tunes and good times alongside the Susan Constant, Letterday, and Oilhead, all wrapped up in a tidy bow by the fine folks at UNregular Radio.
We can promise there won’t be anyone named “John Connor” in attendance.
