Throughout the last two or three days, several earthquakes hit major metropolitan areas -- Los Angeles had a minor shake yesterday, and a severe one in Italy killed 16 while injuring 150 -- reigniting talk of the end of days. While Florida suffers from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, bees die off in mass numbers, and natural disasters destroy buildings, public works, and my faith in the federal government, the Mayan calendar slowly counts down to our doomsday. However, a special little marker must be reserved on today’s date, for even the civilization-founding aliens and heart-eating priests will want to be at what is shaping up as the craziest, most earth-shaking party since the death of Doc Watson tonight at the Middlesex Lounge.
Of course, it’s the coming of SM NIGHT. Resident DJs IRON FIST of Maneuver and CVLT's EL POSER set the tone for rowdy indie-punk trio EARTHQUAKE PARTY, taking their cue from recent world events (too soon!), and Chicago band THUNDERS will hit you hard like a blow from Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir.
Remember to wear as little clothing as possible, and to be provocative with your attire! It is SM Night, after all. Dancing and drinks will start right around 9 pm (get there early if you want to see the early Thunder before the 'Quake), it’s a 21+ gathering, and promoters aren't demanding any of your money to enter.
Though, keep your eyes peeled for aliens who want to buy you drinks, and remind them to always tip. They may have created our species and/or given us fire and other tools, and can end our civilization as we know it, but that does not give them the right to stiff a hard-working bartender.
