[spring preview kickoff] The Darker Hues tonight @ Great Scott; ticket giveaway!

Our Spring Preview of eight new Boston records set to give the city's scene a re-charge kicks off tonight at Great Scott with THE DARKER HUES, who release new record Nothing Tastes Like Failure right in the heart of Allston Rock City.

Want to catch the gig on the free? Then email michael@phx.com with DARKER HUES in the subject line and we'll select one winner at random by 4pm, good for one patron and a guest to rock the eff out, on us.

Here's what we wrote about the Hues last week in the seasonal preview, and feel free to preview the band's previous record via Bandcamp after the jump.Up next after tonight's gig: Twin Berlin's EP release at the Hard Rock Cafe, which is is hyped in today's Mp3 of the Week.

THE DARKER HUES | Great Scott | March 8 | Pairing up with Vermont's Rough Francis for a double-release-party bill, the Darker Hues offer a forcibly bent garage rock that's too cerebral for street punk and too aggro for indie. We Are The Darker Hues (2009) established the trio as an edgy post-hardcore voice, and their sophomore record is primed to be just as pushy. | 1222 Comm Ave, Allston | $8 |greatscottboston.com
