[listen + download] Gotye "Somebody That I Used To Know (George Vala Edit)"
We're not even three weeks into the New Year, and it already seems like GOTYE has owned 2012. Last week the 31-year-old Belgian Aussie born as Wally de Backer was announced as part of the massive Coachella lineup (we tabbed him as one of five emerging artists to hit the Cali desert this April) and a few days later his March 29 show at the Paradise was moved to the House of Blues due to overwhelming ticket demand (much like the owners of 2011, M83, had happen in November).
Now with the radio airwaves and YouTube pretty much conquered, Gotye should crash the nightclubs on the strength of Boston DJ/producer GEORGE VALA's irresistible seven-minute dance remix of "Somebody That I Used To Know."
The man behind music publishing and promotion company Boom Bam Pow Music and house music projects Sunday Groove and ÆREA has unleashed one of the finest remixes of the mega-hit, upping the bassline and smoothly pushing everything forward while keeping true the elements that's made the song such a fixture. Check it out below, download the fuck out of it via Soundcloud, then peep Vala's posted bio after the embed jump.
Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know (George Vala Edit) by George Vala
It's hard to put your finger on George Vala's style. With an extensive background in world and orchestral music, years of performing live, and an undying thirst for making people move, George hit the dance music scene in 2009 with an arsenal of inspiration.
Over the last few years he has honed his sound both as a producer and DJ. His productions have been featured on three Buddha Bar compilations and have garnered support from artists such as Luciano, Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Mark Knight, Markus Schulz, Paul Van Dyk, Super Flu, BLOND:ISH, Israel Vich and more.
Signed to the Smiley Fingers [UK] family in the Spring of 2010, his first release with the label, "Octapodi," defined Vala's sound in the world of organic tech house. Hot on the heels of his most recent solo EP, She Leaves Marks, Vala returns in 2012 with several original releases and upcoming remixes for Abyss, Alfonso Padilla, and Ojos de Brujos.
