A few weeks ago Bo Moore from Bozmo got at me, raving about THE CLIPPERS. Moore and his band had just finished up a nine-date romp down (and back up) the East Coast with the rambunctious odd-punk duo, wrapping up tour with a sweet homecoming date in mid-December at O'Brien's in Allston. Then the holidays happened, and everything went dark.
Now that the haze has lifted, the Clippers are back in action, throwing down not terribly far from OBs tonight at Allston City Limits alongside Saralee (who kicked off the Boston Hassle comp), Grass is Green, Speedy Ortiz, and Sweet Tooth. Back in March the Clippers released a split EP with Coping off Massachusetts-based label Topshelf Records, and expect new material to surface in a few months after some heavy touring action.
Yesterday, Al from Clippers filled us in: "This year we're working on our first LP that will be out by middle year. I'm assuming we're going to tour in the summer after the album comes out but I can't think about that right now. We're in the early stages of booking our tour down to SXSW where we will be meeting up with a few bands to play with on the way."
Check out the split below, then ask a hip Allston punk for the address to tonight's show.
Sippy Cup Everything has you covered with mp3's for each performing band, and, oh, Tim Jacques is responsible for the flyer above. It rules.
