So there's a weird conspiracy theory that pops up on the interwebs every year before the BOSTON MUSIC AWARDS -- that it's possible to determine the winners based soley on who is performing at the party. The list of performers is announced along with the nominations several weeks before the BMAs, and some scoff at their chances of winning if they are not asked to play live at the Liberty Hotel.
So with that in mind, I put this theory to the test. According to the info above, only eight of the 18 performers last night -- including bands/artists, dance parties, and music blogs that provided the night's recorded-music soundtrack -- went home with a engraved chunk of glass.
I mean, some of the winners have to play the party, right? So it makes sense to see the likes of FREEZEPOP, MOUFY, RAZORMAZE, etc., both on stage and in the winner's circle. Makes sense. And if your money was already on ROY SLUDGE, STEREO TELESCOPE, or CASEY DESMOND, no one would have blamed you.
But only eight of 18? I don't think that's enough to determine winners or losers before the event actually takes place.
Don't bother calling Mythbusters.
