BUFFALO TOM loves MEAN CREEK, Mean Creek loves Buffalo Tom, and we love them both even harder than their combined love for each other. Is that even possible? Who knows. But we do know that we blew our Buffalo Tom load last month when their latest record Skins hit the interwebs and brick n' mortar shops, and hell it's been 17 minutes since our last Mean Creek love letter. So with the two playing the Paradise tomorrow night before joining up for three East Coast dates later in April, now's a good time to tie it all together and get the 2011 BEST MUSIC POLL all up in this bitch.
The the Rock N' Roll Rumble might be busy going on across the river this week, this here Friday night 'Dise show could also settle a few friendly debates in our BMP. Mean Creek and Buffalo Tom do battle in three categories: Best Album/EP, where Mean Creek's Hemophiliac EP goes up against a lot that includes Skins; Best Male Vocalist, which finds Chris Keene up against, amongst others, the legendary Bill Janovitz; and the Boston Accents Song of the Year, where "The Comedian" takes on "Guilty Girls" -- sounds like a sitcom -- in a group that also features standout jams from DOM, Bad Rabbits, Bearstronaut, Viva Viva, and Oranjuly.
Mean Creek, last year's Best Boston Act as determined by our readers, will also defend their crown in that category as well. Here are two mp3s from the pair, those songs-of-the-year contenders mentioned above, to get you all worked up something proper.
