Shakedown 03.03 - 03.09: Forward, March

THURSDAY 03.03
DESIGNER DRUGS @ Middle East

NYC duo Designer Drugs have long ruled the remix circuit, crushing dance floors with reboots of everyone from Little Boots to Mariah Carey. Now the electro-dustrial production team darken the clubs to their own lethal beat: Hardcore/Softcore is a relentless Ultra Records debut featuring brash post-banger electronix and guest drops by Annie and Cerebral Vortex.

472 Mass Ave, Cambridge | 9 pm | 18+ | $16 | 617.864.3278 or mideastclub.com
-------

THURSDAY 03.03
JORDAN VALENTINE & THE SUNDAY SAINTS @ Rosebud

The lovely Ms. Valentine, a former World’s Greatest Sinner, brings the soul shake to Davis Square with the first of four Thursday-night parties in March celebrating the release of a new seven-inch on Cultures of Soul Records. Miss Fairchild and DJ Deano Sounds warm it up; Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents join next week’s party.

301 Summer St, Somerville | 9 pm | 18+ | $5 | 617.440.6284 or rosebudbardavis.com
-------

FRIDAY 03.04
TIM SWEENEY @ Good Life

While North Carolina hip-hip producer Ski Beatz spins a classic set upstairs, Good Life stacks the Saturday-night deck as DFA Records/Beats in Space DJ Tim Sweeney holds down the basement. Sweeney’s 11-year-old Beats in Space radio show has been so important to the New York dance scene that NYU allowed him to keep it going long after he graduated.

28 Kingston St, Boston | 10 pm | 21+ | $5 | 617.451.2622 or goodlifebar.com
-------

SATURDAY 03.05
NO TOMORROW @ Machine

Like Boston’s nightclub version of the Weekly World News, electronic dance night No Tomorrow has been predicting the inevitable apocalypse with its own dark affliction since its inception one year ago. Saturday’s anniversary comes just in time: the “Rise of the Machines” theme follows the ruthless human ass kicking that IBM’s Watson dished out on Jeopardy!

1254 Boylston St, Boston | 10 pm | 21+ | $5 before 11 pm/$10 after | 617.536.1950 or machine-boston.com
-------

SUNDAY 03.06
THE DROP @ Phoenix Landing

Sunday night’s newest weekly from True Productions (Circus @ Therapy, Sweat, I ♥ Dubstep), the Drop closes out the weekend with a bass-heavy line-up designed to shatter any hope of getting a good night’s sleep before the work week arrives. James Coletta snaps the party pics, so don’t waste the good looks on Mistress Saturday.

512 Mass Ave, Cambridge | 9 pm | 19+ | $3-$5 | 617.576.6260 or phoenixlandingbar.com
