Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) announce tour, @ the Paradise March 7

Legendary UK synthpop act Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, commonly known as OMD, announced a North American tour this afternoon, the band's first with their original lineup since a 1988 stadium tour with Depeche Mode. Among the 16 dates is a stop at the Paradise Rock Club on Monday, March 7. Our club sources say tickets are priced at $20 and will go on sale Saturday, Jan. 15 at noon.

OMD, the band behind the 1986 Pretty In Pink mega-hit "If You Leave" and the '80s synthpop-pioneering early single "Electricity," is touring stateside in support of last year's well-received comeback album, History of Modern.

The band is also offering special VIP tickets for diehard fans:

The $150 VIP package gets you "admittance to show, intimate soundcheck experience and band meet and greet. Exclusive autographed 8x10 photo and exclusive t-shirt. Plus tour program and your choice of History of Modern CD or 180-gram vinyl w/ digital download. Limited to 30 people per venue;"

Figure most of us will snag the $20 general admission tickets and drunkenly sing along to "Enola Gay" and "Tesla Girls" upstairs at the 'Dise's back bar. Let's hope DJ Chris Ewen gets the chance to spin some classic new wave before and after the bands. Good times.
