Beatles fail to unseat Ke$ha, but here’s their Top 10 Songs and Albums on iTunes anyway

DAY ONE: THE BEATLES' BEST-SELLER

THE BEATLES couldn’t break the iTunes Top 10 singles charts or the Top 5 albums charts – suggesting that for most people under 25, yesterday was actually business as usual on the ol' mp3-downloading front. Meaning the country continued to download club bangers at an astounding rate. Still, it isn’t every day that we get a democratic quorum on “Best Beatles Songs/Albums” in something approximating a scientifically controlled setting. Until all these records come out simultaneously on SuperBluRayMp60000 or something, this will have to do.

It looks like Apple is still working out the process of eliminating duplicate entries, so some of these songs appear twice on the iTunes singles chart – for instance, “Let It Be” shows up at #26 and #58. (We won’t know til later whether the combined sales would’ve pushed it ahead of “Here Comes The Sun” – or for that matter, past Flo-Rida’s teen-dance beast “Club Can’t Even Handle Me Right Now”).Somewhat more impressively, the #10 album on the charts was, essentially, "all of them" -- meaning the newly-issued $149 all-in "Box Set" that gives you all the band's studio albums with extras.

The number in [brackets] at right is how the song placed on the overall iTunes chart, as of 11 am or so this morning.
