09.22: Deftones in-store @ Newbury Comics

Attention commuter rail passengers: Deftones are scheduled to swing by the Newbury Comics flagship location in Back Bay (332 Newbury St.) for an in-store signing tomorrow at 3 p.m. Later in the day the California alt-metal veterans hit Agganis Arena as part of the BLACKDIAMONDSKYE tour with Mastodon and a still-Layne-Staley-less Alice In Chains (Jerry Cantrell be damned, we're still not sold on this resurrection).

The remarkably infallible Deftones are touring behind this year’s lethal return-to-form album “Diamond Eyes,” probably their best and most concise effort since 1997’s “Around The Fur” and first since bassist Chi Cheng was hospitalized after a November 2008 car accident in Santa Clara. To this day he remains in a coma, and fund raising efforts have been steady at One Love For Chi (including $1 from every ticket sold on the current tour).
