Les Savy Fav surfing sexy to 'Ruin'

There was a point during SXSW back in March, after a dozen or so free Red Bull and vodkas sometime around 3am in an emptied out warehouse at a party hosted by Vice, when Les Savy Fav frontman Tim Harrington literally surfed the crowd. Not Drew Bledsoe stage-dive style, held up flesh-on-flesh by outstretched arms. Harrington surfed off the stage carefully balanced on a flat, wooden, legs-tucked-in folding table held up and passed along by the kids closest to the stage. He made it probably 100 feet into the mass of drunken party-happy spectators.

At that moment, a small, orange troll in an Ex Models ringer-tee ran up to me, slapped away my adult beverage and calmly whispered in my ear that LSF would end up releasing one of the tightest, sexiest indie jams of the year. I thought I was hallucinating. I was not. Lead single “Let’s Get Out Of Here” is a motherfucking beast, and it has all sorts of mainstream breakthrough potential.

A few weeks ago Phoenix contributor Michael Grimes tossed three friendly stars at Les Savy Fav’s new album Root For Ruin. But since the berserker New York rock band officially releases the album today (via bassist Syd Butler's Frenchkiss Records, naturally), we’re re-posting the track to On The Download. Well, that and because it’s some white hot shit.

Les Savy Fav hit Royale on Nov. 5. Don’t miss, you just might get surfed on.
