It didn’t take long for the Boston rock scene to help one of its own. On two weeks notice, The Luxury, Streight Angular, Gene Dante and Dead Cats Dead Rats took to the Harper’s Ferry stage Saturday night and raised roughly $750 for Ben Grenville Garceau. The former vocalist for Gravehaven/Roman Traffic was seriously injured in an accident last month, and is currently recovering at his home in New Hampshire. The money raised will go to help offset Grenville Garceau’s rising medical costs, and additional donations are still being accepted through grenvillemusic.com.
On The Download swung by Harper’s to show some support and down a few cocktails, and in the process captured some late-night Phlipcam video action of Streight Angular’s last song. The Luxury followed their performance with a headlining set that included a grand finale with members of Roman Traffic.
“Overall, there was a real palpable spirit of camaraderie in the air — everyone pulling for one of our own, singing with each other, audience members signing people up for raffle tickets, baking cookies, passing donation buckets around and whatnot,” wrote the Luxury’s Jason Dunn in an email to OTD this morning. “And there will be more benefits like this for Ben in the near future — hopefully with more time to prepare!”
The night also served as the one-year anniversary for Boston Emissions, the former WBCN local music show hosted by Anngelle Wood that has since found a home on WZLX 100.7 FM.
