VIDEO: The Books - A Cold Freezin' Night

When I was 11 years old, I begged and begged my parents for a Talkboy for Christmas so I could be like Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2, who predominately used his device to commit credit card fraud. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't too long after winter break that my asshole 5th grade math teacher swiped it and locked away in his desk, never to be seen again. What exactly was on my Talkboy that led him to take it from me? Well, that's going to remain between me and Mr. Hogan.

Folktronic duo Books recently unearthed a number of Talkboy's from various thrift stores, lifted the audio they found on them of children saying some really disturbing shit, and set it to a glitchy electronic beat. The end result is the above video for their song "A Cold Freezin' Night" off The Way Out, their upcoming album due out July 20. If you've ever had nightmares stemming from the film Children of the Corn, may I suggest passing on this.

Note: We actually covered this video here last year, but the high quality version really brings out the creepiness. Also, I'm still pretty sour about that confiscation and needed an excuse to vent.
