RIP Ronnie James Dio, 1942 - 2010


Metal fans mourn a legend today as early this morning former Sabbath frontman and solo artist Ronnie James Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer. Dio's wife Wendy announced the sad news in a message on the rocker's official site. Less than 24 hours earlier, Wendy Dio posted a tweet saying Ronnie James was "still hanging in there." Dio, who was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbbath and later had a hit with the song "Holy Diver" wit his own band, Dio. He is also credited with the popularization of the heavy metal horns (pictured above). Throw 'em up in tribute. Videos below:
