Best Coast perform "I Want You" at Tufts
Less than a week following the performance that landed her band a giant photo and rave review in the New York Times,
Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino was huddled with her iPhone in
the corner of a classroom at Tufts. "Sitting in a corner watching
fluffy lumbers, googling maine coons," she tweeted from the Crane Room
last night as she waited to perform. Cosentino and her two bandmates,
following New Jersey lo-fi act Fluffy Lumbers and grungy trio KC
Quilty, played exactly what you'd expect: A short, sweet, fuzzy set. "We
don't have a set list," Cosentino said. "We're trying this new thing
where we take turns picking songs to play." After about 45 minutes,
they'd zipped through most of the material from their 7-inches that
earned them fuzz-buzzworthiness -- including "Sun Was High (So Was I),"
"So Gone," and "When I'm With You" -- interspersed with new songs from
a full-length that's slated to come out later this year. Check out the
video for "I Want You," above.
