The Narcicyst + Poutine = Mmmm for Montreal

There's a lot of free food in Austin during SXSW, and not just in the dumpsters out behind my hotel. A daytime walk down 6th Street offers an almost infinite amount of complimentary BBQ and other diarrhea fuel; if you dig junk food, there's even a party with free Taco Bell.

But there was only one event yesterday with free poutine, or, as you might better know it, french fries avec cheese curds and gravy (I think people in upstate New York call it "breakfast"). That would be the M for Montreal blast-off at The Paradise, where they were serving heart-attack bowls on the outdoor deck.

On top of that pleasure, I was lucky enough to catch Narcicyst, who I've been checking for years but who I've only seen perform once before. He's one of the most dynamic lyricists in all of hip-hop - an Iraqi MC from Montreal whose multi-lingual capacity powers polysyllabic pontification of preposterous proportions (just look at what he inspired in me).

I have some video dropping here soon, but until then you can check Narcy at Really - that's his web site, and appropriately so since dude is about to blow the fuck up. You can read my review of his last disc here.
