SXSW 2010: Surfer Blood at Club DeVille

West Palm Beach's Surfer Blood (who I wrote a little thingamadoo on not too long ago) don't quite have the Superchunky stage swagger that their music might have you expecting. When they launched into their set under the hot just-past-noon sun with the oooey-chewy-good album highlight "Floating Vibes," it was actually kind of hard to resist running up on stage and pinching their little cheeks. When their guitarist played a solo with his teeth, a wave of hyper-thumbing broke out across everyone's smartphones, but had they been looking up, they would have seen the CUTEST ATTEMPT AT BLUSH SUPPRESSION I've ever seen on stage. A big contagious smile spread across his face and the crowd, and pretty much stayed there until they closed with the iPod tickling "Swim."

ALSO: They sounded great: Much clearer than my photo, much more colorful than my photo, much more... OK my G1 buh-lows. I'm assuming we'll be able to snap some better shots of these venue-stuffing show-happy scouts, but just in case we don't, here's the only thing cuter than this band.
