Overnight sensation Boston rapper Sam Adams debuts at #7 rap album, #71 overall, on Billboard
It's shaping up as the biggest who-dat local-music story since, well, Godsmack. Unsigned white Boston rapper SAM ADAMS -- unheralded by land and by sea, by British or by American press -- shocked the industry last week by debuting at the top of the national iTunes download charts. Record-label execs went bananas, rumors spread that the kid had somehow gamed the system, and flame wars broke out on the blogs.
And now comes the news, from Adams's Twitter account, that his album is poised to break onto the Billboard charts at No. 7 this week, and will also debut on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart at No. 71.
In other words, you're going to be hearing an awful lot more of this kid. For more on Adams and his overnight jump to stardom, read CHRIS FARAONE's freshly-minted profile of Boston's newest breakout star.
