Michael Jackson fans march on Boston Herald to protest "Fade to Blacko" headline

Asia Chandler, host of Big City 101.3 FM's "Morning Mayhem" show, has put out a call asking supporters to march on One Herald Square at 4 pm -- right now, basically -- to protest today's Boston Herald cover.

From Facebook:

ASIA CHANDLER is outraged about the Boston Herald cover this morning and is on her way to One Herald Square to boycott!!!! Join me, the Big City fans, and all the media sources I can reach out to this afternoon at 4pm, right outside the Herald as we peacefully demonstrate that these blatant forms of bigotry are no longer accepted by the Black community in Boston and we mean it! Michael Jackson was an icon and should be respected!

Can someone tell me how the title is a blatant form of bigotry? I can understand someone saying it was in poor taste creating a rhyme with his nickname Jacko but Fade to Black is a common term to mean death. I think people are over-sensitive and read into things too much. Also, the Herald isn't really a NEWSpaper and if you actually read it for that purpose, I am sorry for you.

Yes, the Herald should apologize.  That headline is disrespectful, racist, and inappropriate.  Somethings never change in Boston.

More importantly, Michael Jackson is a human, a creation and servant of the Most High. It was his time to return to his Creator, without reservation.  The Herald should have responded more appropriately, with words that would insight reflection and peace for all that were in rememberance of Michael. Let us keep in mind that we allhave that very appointment with our Creator too.  Prayers or condolences should have been the only thing sent forth on the cover of the Herald.  But how can one send forth, what one does not have?  Those responsible for ignorance, are simply ignorant.  My prayers go out to Michael, his children and family.

For people who believe in Michael's innocence please go to Yahoo groups then search for Vindication Better Than Tributes.

"This group supports full and irrevocable vindication of Michael Jackson BY MAINSTREAM MEDIA. He was already exonerated by a jury of his peers in 2005, but that's not enough. For the sake of his children, and for the health of society, mainstream media must become more responsible. This group will discuss the manner in which truth can compel mainstream media to examine its methods and publicly admit that it wrongly accused--and continues to accuse--Michael Jackson of despicable crimes. Many people still believe Michael was guilty. They were influenced to believe the allegations were true by an out of control and biased mainstream media. This was wrong and continues to be wrong."
