trent_reznor And fuck you, trolls. I'll tweet if I feel like it. 19 Jun 2009 from Tweetie trent_reznor @Mariqueen and I are an unstoppable force of greatness - so SUCK IT. 19 Jun 2009 from Tweetie
A few weeks ago, Trent Reznor, currently in the process of retiring Nine Inch Nails, announced in a post on the NIN messageboard that he was quitting the internet. We're acknowledged fans of Reznor's Twitter feed, so we were disappointed to hear the news - and we were hardly alone, at that.
But still, we didn't say anything about it, because we had a feeling his self-imposed exile from web 2.0 wasn't going to last very long. And it didn't: on Friday he quietly started tweeting again.
Understand something, though: this probably sounds like we're criticizing Reznor for his huffy departure and sheepish return, but we really aren't. Part of Reznor's whole social media experiment was to pull the curtain back and reveal what he's really like these days, and those tweets showed him to be a fairly regular dude - he loves his girlfriend and reps Grizzly Bear. And, like many regular dudes, he is prone to getting annoyed by obnoxious people on the internet. Who among us hasn't wanted to quit with all the idiocy going on out there? Hell, we've done the same thing ourselves, only to realize we really just don't have that much else better to do. So don't sweat it, Trent, there's no shame in returning. We're glad to have you back.
