Stereolab go on indefinite hiatus
In discussing French-English Marxist drone-electro-pop groop Stereolab back in 2008, Phoenix music editor Michael Brodeur described their music as enjoyable, yet easy to take for granted. We'll see if that holds true now that the band has announced an indefinite hiatus via its Web site (via Pitchfork). Recently, Emperor Tomato Ketchup was named as the 51st-best indie rock album of all time by Amazon, right between the Go-Betweens and Television Personalities. We're not going to try to argue the ranking specifically, but that is a great album, still our favorite of theirs.
Stereolab has canceled the remaining shows on their current tour, but they still plan to release Chemical Chords 2, the sequel to last year's album.
