MP3 exclusive: Frank Smith

It's been only a few months since Boston's best country-punk all-star band put out their third full-length, Think Farms, but Frank Smith are already about halfway done with its follow-up, which they're recording with Ethan Dussault at New Alliance Studios. They've offered the Phoenix and our fair readers an exclusive sneak peek at one of the unmastered tracks, "Black and Blue," a song that finds new banjo player Brett Saiia taking the lead. Last time we saw these guys, a couple weeks back at Redneck Fest, they did "I'm On Fire" as if it were "Ring of Fire" and made everyone so confused and happy the new Linwood grill almost burnt to the ground. You can see 'em Friday [December 2] at T.T. the Bear's with Mittens, Tiny Amps, and Age Rings (yes, the first show by our own Will Spitz's new band).

LISTEN: Frank Smith, "Black and Blue (Demo)" (mp3)
