We remember when Jake Brennan was a metal kid signed to Victory who wrote reviews for Punk Planet. We remember when his backing band the Confidence Men wasn't really that good. That was a long fucking time ago. By the time they showed up at the Boston Music Awards last year, signed to Yep Roc and everything, JB had his own JBCMs pulling off organ-drenched, grease-fried Chuck Berry rave-ups like prime-era Animals, Byrds, Stones, and Broooooosh all-at-once. Plus, kid's always had great songs. And he's got better tattoos than anyone else they're playing on WBOS these days. Today, cheapskates, is free-Jake day: free download of his single courtesy of the aforementioned radio station, free show sponsored by said station at 5:30 sharp outdoors on Copley Square. So now what's your excuse for not listening to him?
