Show me yr beefs

We smell a new rock beef. Sleater-Kinney’s The Woods officially dropped today (remember when release dates actually mattered?) and during press interviews for the new record, Carrie Brownstein’s been dissing Interpol harder than the Brandon Flowers blasting the Bravery. What, was Carlos D. in a ska band too? Nope, says Carrie B., just a suck band.

In the new Spin, Brownstein says, “I was in the Gap recently and Interpol was playing, and I was like, ‘I couldn’t be more happy that we just made a record that will never be played in the Gap.’” Boom! Wait a sec, girl, WTF you doing in the Gap?

Look for another Interpol diss in this Thursday’s Phoenix.

In honor of their release date, a coupla things from the official S-K blog:

  • Carrie fractured her foot in London.
  • For the first time ever: "A girl vomited in the front row and didn’t even leave."
  • Sad realization: even Janet Weiss listens to Bright Eyes. (See title of this post.)
