Reed Opposes Internet Piracy Bill
With the tide quickly turning on a pair of anti-Internet piracy bills before Congress - the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) in the Senate - Senator Jack Reed has come out in opposition to the legislation. In a statement just released to the Phoenix:
“I am opposed to passage of this legislation as currently drafted. Stealing intellectual property is wrong – there are no two ways about it. But, I am very worried that these bills could have unknown and damaging impacts on other important policy goals. This needs to be done right, and I don't think we should rush it.”
