Gobeil and Granahan to Headline WPRO Morning Show

As expected, talk-radio station WPRO has named Andrew Gobeil, formerly of ABC6, to join the station's Tara Granahan on a new morning news show that will run from 6 a.m to 9 a.m starting Monday, March 7.

WPRO is aiming for a straight-news program here. Until now, it has tried - sometimes awkwardly - to combine morning news with the controversial opinions of host John DePetro.

That effort grew more complicated last year when DePetro landed in the news for allegedly threatening a lover's family by text message.

Now, DePetro moves into a talk-radio slot, from 9 a.m. to noon, that should more comfortably fit his persona. The hosts behind him - Dan Yorke, Buddy Cianci and Ron St. Pierre, and Matt Allen - will now have three-hour shows, too. Previously, WPRO had aired four-hour shows - longer than the industry norm - in a bid to keep down the number of costly on-air personalities.
