Moderate Party gubernatorial candidate Ken Block is previewing his first television ad, which will be on the air starting next Tuesday. Strong production values and a sharp dig at Rhode Island politics as usual - dressed up with an upbeat soundtrack and tone.
"Government is broken," Block says, gesturing toward a group of political hacks. "They take care of themselves, they waste our money, and they leave us behind. It's time for strong leadership and real change."
It's a message well-tuned to the moment. But in an election with several strong candidates, including a high-profile independent in Lincoln Chafee, it's going to be tough for a little-known third party to break through.
