The Raimondo Team

Does a candidate with no opposition need a campaign team? Apparently. Especially if you'd like to scare off any last-minute competitors. Here's the announcement from venture capitalist Gina Raimondo, whose campaign for treasurer got awfully lonely when Tom Sgouros dropped out of the race:

Rhode Island – Today, Gina Raimondo, Democratic candidate for General Treasurer, announced her team of campaign consultants. Pete Brodnitz will be the campaign’s pollster. Karen Petel will serve as the direct mail consultant. Adam Strasberg, Dan Rabin and Dave Hamrick will be the campaign’s media consultants, general and grassroots strategists. Members of the team have played significant roles on numerous presidential campaigns, dozens of Congressional and gubernatorial races, and also have significant experience working within Rhode Island.

“I am proud to have a team that will help me communicate my vision about how I will ensure that the Treasurer’s office effectively manages hard-earned taxpayer dollars and treats taxpayers like customers who deserve results,” Raimondo said. “I am particularly pleased that several of my advisors have Rhode Island roots and experience, and I am confident that we have a winning campaign team.”

Brodnitz worked as a pollster on Governor Tim Kaine and Senator Jim Webb's upset victories in Virginia. Petel, a Central Falls native, is a former campaign director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Commmittee and EMILY's List. Strasberg and Rabin have created spots for Providence Mayor David Cicilline and Senator Jack Reed, among other political figures.
