Taveras Names Campiagn Manager

In a political culture that often depends on the expertise of outsiders, Providence mayoral candidate Angel Taveras is touting the Providence bona fides of his newly named campaign manager, going so far as to mention her address in the press release. From the campaign:

PROVIDENCE - Angel Taveras announced today that he has hired Lauren Nocera to manage his campaign.

Nocera, a Providence native who resides at 27 Maplehurst Ave. in the Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood, brings a wealth of community and political organizing to the Angel for Providence campaign. In 2007, she was the campaign manager for the successful special election campaign of Representative Frank Ferri (D-22) who won 57% of the vote in a three-way primary and who notably defeated the party-endorsed candidate.  Nocera also played a key role in the 2006 general election where she trained volunteers for the Democratic Party coordinated campaign and also worked heavily with community-based voter turnout efforts Vote Your Voice and Voter Action Project.  In 2008, Nocera was appointed alternate delegate to the Democratic National Convention.
