Mikus Leaves Lynch Campaign

UPDATE: The Lynch campaign has just made the formal announcement

N4N has learned that Mike Mikus, who has managed Patrick Lynch's gubernatorial run since September, has left the campaign. Mikus, a well-respected political figure, recently lost his father. And Lynch, a Democrat who has trailed in the early polls, said Mikus' departure was for personal reasons.

"I wish to extend condolences to Mike on the passing of his father. My thoughts and prayers are with him and the Mikus family in this trying time," Lynch said, in a statement. “Mike is an exceptional young man, who has made an impact and brought great dedication and professionalism to the campaign and will be sorely missed. As much as I wish Mike could stay on, family comes first."

Joel Coon, who worked on Governor Tim Kaine's campaign in Tennessee and Representative Travis Childer's upset victory in a special election in Mississippi in 2008, is the new campaign manager.
