Matt Jerzyk over at RI Future and his legal blog Closing Argument suggested, last night, that State Representative Ed Pacheco might run for Congressman Patrick Kennedy's soon-to-be-vacant seat. And now, Pacheco is suggesting he is "seriously considering" a bid.
There is also talk of someone from Connecticut Senator Christopher Dodd's family running. His sister, Martha Dodd Buannano, lived in Rhode Island before her death last year. Dodd and Vice President Biden were among those at her funeral.
Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed's name is in circulation, though her current job - fair or not - carries some baggage in the midst of a fiscal disaster.
One source says two names seem a lock at this point: Providence Mayor David Cicilline and party chairman Bill Lynch.
