Peace Comes to Providence

International peace activist Jeremy Gilley, who successfully lobbied the UN to make September 21 an international day o' peace, will be appearing at Community Preparatory School in Providence tomorrow to promote a film and curriculum he plans to roll out at thousands of schools in the United States. From a press release:

The curriculum, recommended for grades 6–12, aims to foster discussion among young people about peace and nonviolence in their schools, local communities, and the world at large. The materials accompany Gilley’s award-winning documentary film The Day After Peace and will be delivered to 4,000 schools in the Northeast beginning on April 27 and to all schools in the US by the end of 2010.

Peace One Day’s educational curriculum and DVD distribution is being launched in association with Scholastic and underwritten by long-term supporters Ben & Jerry’s.
