Fischer has a new communications firm

Longtime local political-communications guru Bill Fischer, who served as Sheldon Whitehouse's chief of staff when Whitehouse was AG, sends word that he has launched a new firm, True North Communications.

The company, which has opened an office in Providence, will focus primarily on government and media relations for a variety of clients.

For the past six years, Fischer served as a partner at Vision Strategies, and has more than 15 years of experience in government affairs, media relations and political consulting.  During his tenure with Vision Strategies, Fischer crafted and implemented media and government relations strategies and advertising campaigns for a variety of clients including Allco Renewable Energy Group, Landmark Medical Center, The Beacon Mutual Insurance Company and Ridgewood Renewable Power.

“I am proud of what we accomplished at Vision and look forward to continuing to deliver thoughtful, substantive and winning strategies that advance the interests of True North’s clients,” said Fischer. “I have been fortunate to work with and represent some of Rhode Island’s finest institutions, organizations, leaders and corporations. I will continue to apply the experiences gained from my previous roles, and believe this endeavor will lead to new and exciting opportunities in the coming year.”

In addition to government and public relations services, True North will also offer graphic design, marketing and advertising services.

Prior to joining Vision Strategies, Fischer, spent more than a decade as a senior advisor for several statewide and federal elected officials. As chief-of-staff to a former Rhode Island attorney general, he served as top strategist, spokesperson, state house lobbyist and liaison to business, labor and community leaders. Fischer coordinated media strategy and served as spokesperson and speechwriter for the Rhode Island State Senate and also worked for U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy. He has also directed media operations for the Democratic Party of Rhode Island.
