Carpilio out as news director at WRNI

John Carpilio, a veteran of local broadcasting, is no longer in his post as news director at WRNI, Rhode Island's public radio station.

GM Joe O'Connor offered the following statement:

With sadness today I have decided to let John Carpilio go as our News Director.

John is a man of great integrity and experience and this decision was among the toughest I have made since I became General Manager.

Please know that I have asked John to become our primary substitute host for all of our programs in the future.

I would like John to remain in our RIPR family in this way for as long as possible.

Until a replacement for John is hired, I will be managing the newsroom with the assistance of WRNI’s Morning Edition Host Bob Seay.
