UPDATE on 9-29: the Journal announced the move on the front of its Sunday paper yesterday.
Due to a lack of advertising, the ProJo reportedly plans to eliminate its Sunday TV section after this week.
The section had already been changed some years ago, from a booklet to broadsheet format, and eliminated from retail sales, in an attempt to drive more home delivery sales. Andy Smith, the Journal's TV writer, had been abruptly reassigned in early 2007, upsetting some of his colleagues.
Despite plans to kill the section, the ProJo is not expected to announce the move. "Most people will think their carrier screwed up, or they didn't get the insert," says one insider.
Don't fear. Those looking to have a TV party will still find listings in the daily paper.
