A hat trick with Elizabeth Roberts

1. The lieutenant governor's office says Roberts will convene tomorrow the Emergency Management Advisory Council, a group that she chairs, for a post-incident review of last week's snow storm, and some other matters.

2. In a separate news release, Roberts says:

For Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island to move forward, those five board members, who began serving prior to May 2003 and were therefore responsible for oversight when the illegal actions took place, must step down, including the chairman, Mr. [Frank] Montanaro. Fundamental change must occur and the only way to ensure complete accountability and a fresh start is for these members of the board to resign.

3. Dan Yorke started off this afternoon by asserting that Roberts, or more particularly, her gender, bears part of the blame for the state's seemingly tepid response to last Thursday's snow storm. "This is what happens when you let girls [govern]," he said. "Girls do girly work." At this moment, Yorke is changing his analysis, suggesting that, because of chauvinism, the governor's staff kept Roberts out of the loop. Well, Dan, which is it?
