Pundits' presidential picks

UPDATE: New endorsements.

The coveted endorsement of the Des Moines Register goes to Hillary Clinton and John McCain. The Boston Globe has endorsed Barack Obama and McCain.

. . . .

During a broadcast this morning of WJAR-TV's 10 News Conference, former US Representative Bob Weygand and Brown University professor Darrell West predicted that Hillary Clinton and Mitt Romney will be the respective Democratic and Republican presidential nominees. Lisa Pelosi, a former press secretary for Linc Almond, picked Barack Obama and Rudy Giuliani.

West said the criticism about the underwhelming response to Thursday's snow storm -- of state and Providence officials -- was on-target. Going with the conventional wisdom, he cited New Mexico's Bill Richardson as the best vice presidential pick for Hillary.

Interestingly, Pelosi's prediction of Obama as the Democratic nominee was also backed by Pat Buchanan, who made the comment while speaking on the McLaughlin Group.
