Rhode Island: the Gaming State

Those thousands of VLTs in Lincoln may just be small potatoes.

Our fellow Rhode Islanders are gaming the system, from the top to the bottom, and if you don't laugh, you will surely cry.

Dolores Rodriguez-LaFlamme, who is accused of working with middlemen in a ring illegally peddling driver's licenses . . .

was also the face of the DMV at the 2006 Latino Expo held at the Rhode Island Convention Center last September. During an “Ask projoCars!” seminar, LaFlamme was a co-presenter. The topic? “How to Save Time at the Department of Motor Vehicles.”

And former House majority leader Gerry Martineau, under scrutiny for pushing a capital-gains tax reduction backed by CVS CEO Tom Ryan, was introduced by someone from the Providence chamber in 2001 "as truly a friend of the business community."

Calling Bill Reynolds! Full Rhode Island in effect.
