Deval Patrick at Brown tomorrow

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick will speak tomorrow evening on College Hill. Darrell West sends along these details:

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick will deliver this year’s Gov. Frank Licht Lecture on contemporary issues at 7 pm, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in Salomon Center, room 101. The event is free and open to the general public. No backpacks, posters, or banners of any kind will be allowed into the venue.  This event is sponsored by the Taubman Center for Public Policy.

Governor Patrick was elected in 2006 with 55 percent of the general election vote.  Previously, he served as Assistant U.S. Attorney General for Civil Rights. He is a 1978 graduate of Harvard College and has a law degree from Harvard Law School.

Considering how Jane Swift, one of Patrick's predecessors on Beacon Hill, visited Brown last week, I began to wonder when William Weld and Paul Cellucci (not to mention Mitt Romney) are going to show up.

West, though, says that the university's next big speaker will be former New York Governor George Pataki, at 4 pm on November 7.
