North Providence mayor Charles Lombardi just told Dan Yorke that he believes the NP police department can fairly investigate its own conduct related to the injury suffered by Alexandra Svoboda.
Yorke isn't buying it, even though he takes a dim view of the the demonstrators, and he shouldn't.
I wasn't there on Saturday, so I don't know what happened. Does Svoboda's injury seem disproportionate? Yes. Is it possible that the explanation involves something other than excessive force? Yes.
The way to vet this matter is to have it done by an independent agency.
Btw, the IWW, which has asked AG Patrick Lynch to investigate the case, says it plans to hold a protest at his office at 2 pm tomorrow to follow up on its "demands," including that "all charges against [Jason] Friedmutter and Alex Svoboda be dropped, and financial enumerations to compensate for physical and mental anguish be awarded."
