Greater City: Providence get-together tonight

Greater City: Providence, a newish group with a strong interest in planning and development issues in the capital city, holds its latest monthly get-together at 5:30 this evening, at Spats Restaurant on Angell Street.

Here's how GC:P describes itself:

Greater City: Providence promotes the growth and development of the Greater Providence region in as urban a pattern as possible. Special focus is placed on the development of more walkable, affordable, and vibrant neighborhoods that are served by more robust mass transit and fueled by greater economic opportunity. Our energies are initially being spent on the upcoming zoning and planning process to ensure that the Providence of the future is an urban environment and not a city plagued by inconsistent, uninspired, automobile-centric, and suburban-style development.

Our Greater City: Exchange meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month to discuss our vision and ways to attain that future. Please check our calendar for times and locations. If you are eager to strive towards creating a greater city for everyone, we want you to join us.

Having more people interested and involved in these kinds of issues is a good thing for Providence.
