Maureen Dowd: International Woman of Mystery ... Sorta
And now for another page-turning addition to the ever expanding Laser Orgy Database of Comic Books About Political Pundits and Other Influential Media Figures - LODCBAPPOIMF for short (see, it's funny because that's not short at all).
In this installment: Maureen Dowd and Female Force: Women in Media.
Yeah, this seems like a pretty accurate depiction of Maureen Dowd's daily routine.
Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd is many things: a reference-happy pontificator, an alleged recreational plagiarist,
and yes, even a carbon-based life-form. But is it possible that this
nickname-assigning analyst of all things politico could be a day-saving
super-journo in disguise?
Well, The Incredibly Fantastic Adventures of Maureen Dowd claims just that. And though the Benjamin Marra
penned comic book subtitles itself "A Work of Satire and Fiction," we
are going to run the high road of ignorance here and take every word of
it as truth.
Like some twisted newsie's fan-fic fantasy, TIFAoMD
(more acronyms!) imagines the red-headed reportress as a lingerie-clad
femme fatale; a pistol-toting seeker of truth attempting to cover the
Valerie Plame scandal before a dinner date with who but George Clooney.
Eh, this one looks markedly less exciting.
On a less creepily sexualized note, Bluewater Productions' Female Force series just released its latest collection titled Female Force: Women in Media. This set of bio-comics illustrates the life stories of Oprah, Barbara Walters, Ellen DeGeneres, and Meredith Vieira.
So, you've got a choice: gain valuable insight into the moments that shaped some of modern media's most influential women, or
watch an equally influential female kick some ass and take some names --
literally, you don't want to misspell a source -- in a whirlwind of
sexy reportage
