HOT COMBO: Art with Alcohol

Playing with paintbrushes was fun in grade school, but now it takes a bit more to get those creative juices flowing and bust out our inner Picassos. So we love the idea of making art while sipping booze. Every second Sunday, Great Scott (1222 Comm Ave, Allston, 617.566.9014) hosts Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School, where aspiring artists sketch models from Boston's drag, burlesque, and performance-art scenes. Club Café (209 Columbus Avenue, Boston, 617.536.0966) hosts night sessions on fourth Tuesdays. Artisan's Asylum (13 Joy Street, Somerville, 617.863.7634) recently began offering a libation-laced figure-drawing class, Sip & Sketch. And The Paint Bar (823 Washington Street, Newtonville, 617.872.0720), which opened earlier this year, offers low-key art instruction with a cash bar. The Paint Bar's mother-daughter owners say the alcohol helps people relax and let go of inhibitions. Just don't get so sauced you dip your paintbrush in wine instead of water!
