Police arrest Batman

Yep, Commissioner Gordon's Bar Harbor compatriots don't have nearly the patience for the antics of the Caped Crusader as we might expect. A guy who dresses up like Batman in Bar Harbor has been posting Batman-related items on his Facebook page for some time now. In what he claims was "an obvious April Fool's joke," the man, whom the Associated Press says lives two blocks from the Bar Harbor Hospital, posted a demand for $1 million "or I'll blow up the hospital" on April 1.

So everyone had a good laugh at the idea that the best good guy in the DC universe would do something so obviously antithetical to his purpose. (And this guy's own purpose seems even more benign: he dances around town with a boombox. But then again, he has a record: Back in October, cops told him to turn the volume down.)

Oh wait - that's not what happened. Instead, he got arrested for terrorizing and spent a few hours in jail. In addition to asking for an apology for the police - and containing his own apology if he scared anyone for real - his FB page now has text and images with obvious disclaimers saying "please people don't take any of this seriously."

I guess that means Batman's now trying really hard to be the Joker...
