Guns in bars

You can't bring your bow and arrow to Mill Creek Park anymore. Damn.

But feel free to bring your loaded gun to a bar in Tennessee (or one of 21 other states that allow loaded firearms in establishments that serve alcohol, including Maine), according to this New York Times article about how more states are passing ordinances that allow loaded guns in more places. "Experts say these laws represent the latest wave in the country’s gun debate, as the gun lobby seeks, state by state, to expand the realm of guns in everyday life," writes Times journalist Malcolm Gay.

Read more about Maine's gun laws here, where the Legal Community Against Violence has ranked Maine 42nd out of 50 states -- meaning we have some of the weakest gun laws in the country.
