50 things to eat in Maine this summer [6-10]
The next five in our list of summer must-eats/drinks:
- Lobster roll from the Lobster Shack at Two Lights (225 Two Lights Rd., Cape Elizabeth). Eaten on the rocks above the crashing surf. Summer.
- Fish tacos at El Rayo (101 York St., Portland). Simple and satisfying, with seasoned fish, crunchy slaw, and smooth avocado.
- Fries and a milkshake from Duckfat (43 Middle St., Portland). Inventive dipping sauces for the fries; classic flavors for the shakes. The best in Portland, some say.
- Grilled peaches. Another homemade BBQ treat, this one to be served with vanilla ice cream on a backyard blanket. This recipe looks good (I like the inclusion of mint).
- Fried dough, strawberry shortcake, meat on a stick, or seafood in a cup at one of Maine's myriad summer fairs and festivals. Find a comprehensive listing of said events at maine.info. Then read this, the ultimate in Maine festival journalism.
